Meet Darryl Rodgers

Hello, I’m Darryl Rodgers,
and I am The Family Recovery Coach.
My mission is to guide and support parents
who have a son or daughter
battling drug or alcohol addiction.
Through coaching, empathy, and understanding,
I help families navigate the

challenging journey of recovery.

A Personal Journey

My story is deeply rooted in personal experience. In 2014, tragedy struck when my oldest son, Chase, lost his life in a marijuana-impaired car wreck at the tender age of 20. Chase battled addiction for about a year and a half before his untimely passing. His struggle opened my eyes to the harsh realities of addiction—a world I had previously known little about.

From Grief to Advocacy

Driven by grief and a desire to make a difference, I embarked on a journey of learning and advocacy. Here are some key milestones:

  • Book Release:

In 2015, I authored a book titled “A Life Half Lived: A True Story of Love, Addiction, Tragedy, and Hope.” Through Chase’s story, I aimed to raise awareness about addiction and its devastating impact on families.

  • Speaking Engagements:

Starting in 2016, I began sharing Chase’s story at schools and various venues. My goal was to educate others, break down stigma, and foster compassion for those affected by addiction.

  • Support Groups:

In 2018, I began facilitating a PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) support group. PAL is a support group for parents trying to navigate the complexities of having a loved one battle addiction.

  • Parent Coaching:

By 2020, I will have expanded my reach by coaching parents directly. By guiding them through the complexities of addiction, I empower families to find strength, resilience, and healing.

  • Interventions:

In 2023, I achieved certification in conducting interventions. This skill allows me to facilitate crucial conversations and encourage loved ones to seek help.

Before dedicating my life to helping families, I had a diverse background:

*Aviation Career*

I served as a co-pilot/gunner on the AH-64 Apache and flew for American Eagle Commuter Airlines.

* Outdoor Enthusiast*

Growing up in rural South Carolina, I explored the woods, hunted, and fished. These experiences shaped my love for nature and adventure.

*Small Business Owner*

I’ve owned several small businesses, but the most rewarding venture was running an outdoor summer day camp for boys. There, I witnessed the transformative power of mentorship and connection.

Family Matters

My wife, Kim, and I married in 1990. Together, we are the proud parents of two boys: Justin and Chase. Our youngest son, Justin, is excelling in a chemistry PhD program.  Despite the tragic end of Chase's life, his memory endures through my work and our shared commitment to helping others.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Together, we can turn pain into purpose and create a brighter future for families affected by addiction.
