Parents of Addicted Loves Ones Zoom Call

WHAT IS PAL?

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones is a Christian nonprofit that offers support groups for parents with an adult child battling addiction.

PAL is a support group designed for parents and family members who have a loved one struggling with substance use disorder (SUD). With evidence-based practices, PAL has been shown to improve parents' well-being and reduce enabling behaviors. Studies also suggest that loved ones are less likely to use drugs or alcohol when their family members attend PAL meetings. The curriculum covers important topics such as delayed emotional growth, the role of the family in addiction, setting realistic boundaries, and the difference between healthy helping and enabling.

PAL offers free weekly meetings that provide addiction education and support for parents and family members supporting a loved one through addiction. These meetings create a safe space for sharing experiences and learning effective ways to cope and assist without enabling harmful behaviors. Facilitators are parent volunteers, not professional counselors, ensuring that advice and support come from shared personal experiences.

We encourage all attendees to share their perspectives and respect confidentiality. While PAL is a space for parents and family members, it is not intended for those struggling with addiction themselves.

Meetings are open to anyone aged 18 and older, providing a supportive community for those affected by a loved one’s addiction.
